Still here

1 min read

(Also wrote this on my original account mlpfan1982, have added bits for here):

I’m still here, just not as active as I used to be. But this account has a lot of memories and I’ll still be here on both my accounts. Also you can find me on Instagram as music_and_languages, I’ve been there since November 2018.

I haven’t had an easy time these past two years, but I’ve had consolations and I still love Jónsi and the others as much as ever. Three years ago I found love because of him, even in the midst of his breakup with Alex, but thankfully they are always best friends and so I hope things can get better for my own beautiful boy, even if we aren’t together anymore ourselves. It’s a long story, but I hope someday we can continue it. Also in 2019 I also found a friend I love just as much, from the same source, and I still hope I will get to thank Jónsi for everything someday.

It's Jónsi's birthday today and he's 45! And he's released his new single "Exhale". What a day! Til hamingju með afmælið, Jónsi! Við elskum þig!

This month is horrible and the year could hardly start off worse. My boyfriend is offline for a month, a friend blocked me a few weeks ago (but I'm not mad at her and hopefully she'll at least remember me), my cat keeps trying to escape, my great-grandpa died yesterday, Kobe Bryant and his daughter have died with others in a helicopter crash today... It's all too much and if I have other worries I can't even remember what they are. Everyone just keeps getting taken and it's painful even though three can come back.

So I just remembered a lost media memory of mine, although I'm assuming that the cartoon in question isn't lost, it's likely just very obscure. Hopefully someone who reads this has also seen the cartoon and knows more about it than I do. So first of all, I haven't seen this cartoon since I was six or seven. It was the last of three 1930s cartoons on a VHS tape that my great-grandma has. The tape got lost in around 2007 and no one knows where it is. I have managed to find the first two cartoons from it: the first was about Humpty Dumpty (in black and white or at least faded colour) and the other was about the Little Red Hen (in colour). I'll provide the links below so you'll know which ones I'm referring to.

The third cartoon on the tape was also in colour. I don't know the title or the name of the studio that made it, but I do remember most of what happens, maybe not 100% correctly, but this is how I remember it. Basically a family finds a little orphan boy wandering outside their house in the snow and they take him in and feed him. The couple's son is jealous of the attention the orphan boy is getting, and so he does bad things and frames the orphan for it. The orphan gets kicked out of the house and that's all I remember about it. Again, I don't remember the title of this cartoon or the studio name. The times I've typed "orphan cartoon 1930s" into the search bar, I haven't found anything resembling it. Hopefully someone knows more about this than I do.

UPDATE:

Thanks to imlexicon on Tumblr, the short has been found! It is A Waif's Welcome (1936), an episode of the Rainbow Parade series by Van Beuren.
